Residents Told to Take Neccessary Precautions Against the Hot WeatherThe Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory is constantly reminding residents to take necessary precautions against the hot weather. Because of clear skies ultraviolet rays have reached the maximum level in radiation especially around noontime on most days.

Temperatures during this time can reach 60 degrees Celsius on cement road surfaces and 65 degrees Celsius on asphalt road surfaces in this heat wave. The elderly, the young and the weak are constantly reminded to cut down on their outdoor activities especially during midday. Residents are also advised to avoid direct sunlight because the high level of ultraviolet radiation can cause serious sunburns and the possibility of heat stroke.

Shenzhen have been experiencing a lot of sunshine and temperatures higher than 33 degrees Celsius in most areas while weather stations have recorded temperatures as high as 35 degrees Celsius in other parts. Guanlan has the highest recorded temperature which reached 36.5 degrees Celsius. The city observatory have issued a yellow warning for next week, meaning that the city will be experiencing its fourth heat wave with temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius, while the central areas and urban centers will have temperatures higher than 35 degrees Celsius.

Residents staying outside for an extended period are ask to take precautions such as wearing sunglasses, using umbrellas and sunblock. Residents are also advised not to stay in air conditioned place to long to lower the risk of catching a cold due to the sudden change in temperature.
