Shenzhen Design Association to Have Training Program With Hong Kong University
The Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association together with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University launched a training program designed for Shenzhen designers. The project will run for 24 weeks focuses on consumer products, furniture and electronic products design.
The cooperative agreement between the two parties was held during the third Shenzhen-Hong Kong Culture and Creative Forum. Several other plans about the cooperation between the two cities are also being discussed. By 2013 the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Design Center will be open in Qianhai area will feature industrial research, database and services for design companies and training. Also the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Design Biennale will be launched next year in Hong Kong in which the two cities will take turns in displaying cutting edge products coming from the two cities.
Both cities have set policies that will help promote design as the driving force in the development of the two cities into creative cities. A cultural and creative industry has always been the core of Shenzhen, it is a booming industry with more than 52,000 design companies and 65,000 members in Shenzhen. Last year alone the value of the city’s cultural and creative industry raked in more than 87 billion yuan. and since 2008 the strategic cooperation with Hong Kong Design Center was signed by Shenzhen Industrial Design Association to hold a series of design related events in the two cities.
