Faulty Tire Pressure Caused Delay in Passenger Travel
A passenger plane from Beijing going to Shenzhen hovered for an hour over Shenzhen airport Monday evening before safely landing. The China Southern Airlines extended hovering was due to a faulty tire pressure which resulted in delays at the airport.
Airport authorities said that no one was injured during the landing and the plane hovered above the airport for two hours not one as reported. The flight from Shenzhen to Beijing normally takes three hours took five. The day after another China Southern Airline passenger plane had to return to the airport after more than an hour in flight to Nanjing due to mechanical problems.
Once the plane landed, mechanics checked the plane immediately once it came to a stop, and were glad that the plane was able to come back as they cited that it prevented the problem to become more serious. This prompted questions on why airplane mechanics fail to find problems before any plane leaves the airport.
A spokesperson for the airline said such problems are common and mechanics do regular equipment check before each takeoff and after landing.
