Heavy Rain and Winds to End Heat Wave in the City
Incoming tropical storm Vicente will bringing heavy rain and strong winds to Shenzhen in this week. The storm will make landfall tomorrow in western Guangdong. Potentially a typhoon the residents are warned on the possibility of flooding, but will not cause any major property damage.
During the weekend, residents experienced the hottest point since 2001 with temperatures higher than 37 degrees Celsius, prompting the city to implement its high temperature warning. Last Saturday the meteorological observatory records the day’s highest temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius in Longgang District Caopu area.
And as the tropical storm slowly approached the city it kept pushing hot air into the city creating an oven like atmosphere. This prompted the city to issue an orange warning that suggested residents to take precautions against the hot weather.
