Commission Announces Renaming of Shenhui Road
The municipal urban planning, land and resources commission recently announced the Longgang section of Shenhui Road will be renamed Longgang Boulevard. The section of the road is part of the No. 205 State Highway which extends 36 kilometers and used as a link between Huizhou and Shenzhen.
Longgang police are now organizing the changing of addresses of establishments that are found along the road covering the six sub districts in Longgang. The police have compiled around 3,000 new Addresses for government agencies, enterprises, shops and businesses. Changes will also be made to address plates, road signs and business licenses and is said to cost 20 million yuan.
Although several objections were made during a month-long open public comment, the name change is said to be worthwhile. In the past Shenhui road was a part of the State highway and conditions made it into a prosperous trunk road for Longgang making the name change appropriate.
Shenhui Road was notorious for having fatal accidents and traffic jams, but conditions have improved since undergoing renovations prior to the summer Universiade games.
