Nation Gears Up for More Incoming Typhoons
As typhoons Saola and Damrey slowly approaches coastal areas in southeastern China, officials are now relocating thousands of fishermen as calling ships back to port before the storm hits the city. Typhoon Saola will be the ninth typhoon to hit China and is expected to make its second landfall in coastal areas between Putian City and Yuhuan County.
Saola first landfall was in Hualien, Taiwan Thursday morning bringing in heavy rains to the island and forced schools and offices to close. Saola will be moving northwest and further generate heavy rains in the coastal areas of Fujian and Zhejiang. Meanwhile typhoon Damrey will make landfall in Shandong and Jiangshu.
The provincial meteorological station have already issued a red alert for typhoon Damrey and suggested that the local government to make necessary preparations for disaster relief, suspension of businesses, cancelation of classes, and relocating residents to safe places.
