Expressways to Revert to Old Calculations of Tollgate Fees
Eight expressways in Shenzhen have lowered their tollgates fees by using the old calculation system which followed the requirements of the Guangdong provincial transportation and pricing authority. The eight expressways are the Meiguan, Jihe, Nanguang plus two section of Yanba and sections of Shenshan, Huiyanand Guanshen expressways.
In June Guangdong implemented a new rule that will standardize and to lower tolls in the the expressways. Under the ruling these expressways will have their tolls increased using the new calculations that rounded up tolls to one yuan. Sections of expressways that used the new method of calculation have now returned to using the old calculation system. The old system use to round up the toll to the nearest 5 yuan, this means if the toll is less than ten yuan the driver will pay ten yuan. If the toll is more than ten yuan then the driver pays fifteen yuan.
Fee on Guangshen and Shuiguan expressways will still be adjusted, since these expressways are funded by foreign investment and are not included in the fee adjustments measure. Guangshen is the most profitable expressway in China, carrying more than 100,000 vehicles and collects 10 million yuan in fees everyday.
