New Mobile Phone Software to Detect Fraudulent Text Messages
A new mobile phone software called e-police workshop was released by the Shenzhen police that will assist citizens in avoiding being cheated through false text messages. The software can intercept a majority of the false messages them uploads them for the police to uses as evidences in their investigations.
An officer for the public information security department said that under the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau, the software can be downloaded online and will automatically inform the mobile phone users of any false messages once it’s identified through the police database. There are different fraudulent tactics being used ranging from telecom scams and online shopping ploys which poses a threat in the lives of citizens and property.
In 2010, Shenzhen police cyber division started a program that tracks down fraudulent cases and at the same time took the lead in developing an intelligent mobile phone software. When a mobile user answers of dials a suspected number a dialogue box will pop up on the phone screen warning the user to take precautions. The messages from these accounts are automatically intercepted and stored.
