Ways to Get Your Kids Off the Computer

Ways to Get Your Kids Off the ComputerNowadays, kids as young as three-years old are playing with iPhones, iPads, and other electronic gadgets. Kids sits with their eyes glued to the TV and computer for hours at a time. Because of this, many parents worry that their child will become lazy and lack necessary social skills later in their lives.

So how can parents overcome this problem? Well, D6, the first place to offer workshops on games in Southern China, might be just the thing. The store has a variety of non-electronic games, including game lovers’ favorites like Warhammer, Lord of the Rings, etc., and will teach kids how to play them.

The owner, Philip Orr, has four years of experience in children’s education. He feels disheartened about a trend he has seen emerge in which kids today don’t want to try new things and give up much too quickly when they do.  He believes kids nowadays lack the ability to communicate and, with more time in front of the computer, are increasingly overweight.  As a result, Orr decided to combine his hobby playing games with his passion for helping kids, opening up the D6 games shop.

In D6, everyone is equal and the store is all about promoting family. Orr hopes to help kids have fun while learning social skills. Kids will be treated as adults and will learn to be independent through different workshops.

Every Tuesday at 7pm, there is a games tactics workshop where there will be three big gaming tables waiting for young kids to join a game. While having fun playing the games, kids can learn strategic planning, risk analysis, and, most importantly, teamwork. The goal is to build-up kids’ social interaction skills and inspires their creativity.

In addition, every Thursday at 7pm, there is a toy painting workshop. Kids will use their imagination and help to paint their favorite toys. This can help kids to develop their artistic skills, as well as teach kids the value of patience by showing them the satisfaction of a job well done at the end of the workshop.

Parents, if you want change your child’s lifestyle and put a smile on their face, you should definitely checkout D6. Game lovers, if you want to look for a new favorite game, D6 is most certainly worth the trip.

Feel free to visit D6 at Shop 152 Sea Taste Mall Shekou, Shen Zhen.
