More Than a Hundred Students Registered at SUST for Incoming School Year
Around a hundred and ten new students came to register at the South University of Science and Technology of China last Saturday, the first day of registration for new students after the Ministry of Education approved the university earlier this year.

All incoming freshmen students have mixed emotions about the incoming academic year. Many are saying that they were excited to be enrolled in a university, while some were worried about the risk on studying in a new university but adjusted slowly once they got the chance to learn more of the school.
For the incoming academic year, SUST released it full enrollment plan and started receiving more than 6,000 applications in just a month. 1,307 students attending SUST’s self organized examinations and out of that number 180 were enrolled. Enrolled students will be segregated into four classes and will be starting their courses once they finish two weeks of military training.
In their first two years of studying the students will not be choosing any majors, and all of them will be taking foundational courses which are calculus, chemistry, physics, English, computer science, Sinology, linear algebra and athletics. Students then choose their majors once they are in their third year depending on their interest and abilities, and then each student will be joining a research institute in the university to finish their courses and research.
The university has five departments with six majors, and hired more than 70 professors and lecturers.
