Tourists Starts Preparing for Individual Tours to Taiwan
The first individual tourists for Taiwan are now preparing for their departure on August 28, the day Taiwan opens its doors to self guided tours from Shenzhen. 120 tourists paid 1,999 yuan for the self guided tour to Taiwan using Shenzhen Port China Travel Service, one of the six travel agencies that are qualified to acquire entry permits for Taiwan.
Along with the entry permit secured by the travel agency, individual tourist also applies for a pass from the local public security bureau. The two documents will allow individual tourists to stay in Taiwan for 15 days. The fee collected by the travel agency covers permits application, two nights hotel stay and round trip airfare. Even when the self guided tour is only three days long, most travelers still prefer travel agencies to book accommodations and air fare for them. Travelers will decide itineraries and routes themselves.
The first 120 tourists mainly consists of young people and people who already been in Taiwan in a package tour. Travel agencies also advise individual travelers not to limit their travel around Taiwan, suggested places to visit are Taipei and Kaohsiung. Agencies also recommends to travel along the west of Taiwan to see Taipei National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, Riyuetan Pool, Ali Mountain and old streets that sell local food.
People planning to apply for self guided tours needs to provide travel agencies several documents such as certificate of deposit with at least 50,000 yuan or a certification of a yearly 125,000 yuan income.
