Hospitals to Undergo Evaluation before Getting 3A Classifications

Hospitals to Undergo Evaluation before Getting 3A ClassificationsFive more 3A hospitals will be evaluated by the Ministry of Health to further evaluate the standards of their medical care. Although there is still no definite date on when the evaluation will start.

A hospital can get the highest grade of 3A in China. 3A hospitals are considered to be the largest, with the best equipment, well trained staff and conduct the most advance medical research. Before a hospital can be given a 3A classification it has to be evaluated by relevant authorities and to be also approved by them.

In 1990, there were three hospitals in the city given a 3A classification by the Ministry of Health authorities namely the Shenzhen No. 1 People’s Hospital, Shenzhen No. 2 People’s Hospital and the Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. And in accordance to the Ministry of health, Guangdong Province halted all evaluations and approvals of all hospital levels in 1998.

The evaluations was reinstated in 2011 in which five hospitals were given 3A classifications they are Beijing University Shenzhen Hospital, Nanshan People’s Hospital, Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital, Longgang Central Hospital and Bao’an People’s Hospital. According to the Ministry of Health these hospitals have passed all the evaluations but will have to pass through a second evaluation with new standards issued by the ministry.
