Lost Boy Found with the Help of Online Messaging Service
With the help of more than 10,000 netizens, a four year old boy was found five hours after he was declared lost in Futian District. The boy named Niuniu was found in Shiyan in Bao’an District after residents read about him on a twitter like messaging service about his disappearance.
Several microblogs such as Shenzhen Minicipal Government, Futian District Public Security Bureau, Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau, Futian Traffic Police Department and Pingshan New Area Government have also released new on the disappearance of the boy in their site.
The boy went missing while he was preparing to go to school with his mother. As they left their residential building the mother asked the boy to wait for her in the building’s foyer while she ran back to the apartment to grab something she left. The boy then proceeds to leave the building and the community on his own. The mother then posted her first Weibo message reporting the disappearance of her son at 9:30 in the morning. The news then spread like fire as thousands of residents reposted the alert, while some raised concerns on a possible kidnapping.
People then started to report clues and instances of the boy being spotted on a Metro rail, but after viewing the security cameras the mother failed to find her son. The boy then proceeded to board a bus but was not allowed to ride as the driver noticed that he was not accompanied by an adult or his parents. The driver waited for ten minutes in hopes someone would arrive for the boy after nobody turn up the driver turn the boy over to the police and local media.
The boy was reunited with his parents at the bus terminal with the help of the staff, the mother promised to keep the child in her sights in all times to prevent this from happening again.
