New Medical System to Include Treatment of Critical Illness
China recently announced a decision that will expand the country’s health care insurance system coverage that will include treatment of critical illness and to prevent patients from being dragged down to poverty because of health care costs.
The new system will further increase the level of protection of China’s health care insurance will set a new level of the regional annual per capita disposable or a family’s net income that will ensure that each family member that get hospitalized with have its total medical expenditure not more that the total household expenditure for health care. Under the new system when a patient’s medical bill for necessary treatments in the existing basic health insurance exceeds the set level, the patient will be reimbursed.
Since the end of last year around 1.3 billion people are covered by the health care insurance and expenditures have been a burden to patients with severe medical conditions. The new system will prevent them from falling into poverty because of their illness.
