New Proposal will Provide Subsidies to Qualified Private School Students
Under a massive subsidy proposal by the Shenzhen’s education bureau states that qualified students at more than 80 percent of private schools in the city will be tuition free. Qualified students aged 6 to 15 living with their parents in Shenzhen for more than a year if based on the drafted plan for subsidies for private schools.
Under the drafted plan, the city government will be spending 500 million yuan on subsidies for these local private schools. Private primary schools will receive 5,000 yuan per student in subsidies every year, and junior middle schools students will get 6,000 yuan in subsidies. Private schools charging lower than the standard subsidies will be receiving funding equal to their tuition while private schools charging more than the standard subsidies the student’s parents will be paying the difference.
About 50,000 students in Shenzhen will be benefiting from this program creating more than 250 million yuan in savings, furthermore around 160 private schools will receive financial rewards totaling more than 85 million yuan. The additional funding will be used to improve school facilities and other resources.
