Power Failure Paralyzes Metro Line Services
The Metro Longhua Line between Minle and Futian Checkpoint had its services paralyzed for six hours yesterday by a power failure that started around 1:37 pm near Children’s Palace Station. Services were resumed at 7:15 pm.
To transport stranded passengers at the Metro stations the Shenzhen transport commission deployed a total of 150 buses with 25 buses in each station to help bring passengers to other Metro Stations that were not affected by the power failure. According to passengers who rode on the Longhua Line that during the time of the power failure they all heard loud scratching sounds and sparks coming from outside the train before they came to a complete stop and one door had its glass shattered.
The company operating the Metro line confirmed that the problem was caused by a power failure and was the second disruption happened on the same day. During the morning rush hour a train coming from Qinghu to Futian Checkpoint suddenly stopped as it entered the Children’s Palace Station area. Passengers said that the train was moving quietly and a little unstable until it came to a stop at the Civic Center Station.
