New Railway to Shorten Travel Time to Xi’an
Passengers can now reach the northwestern part of china and the tourist destination of Xi’an in nine hours once the new high speed rail line will be open in Shenzhen. The Xi’an – Guangzhou line is now undergoing tests with speeds running at 310 kilometers per hour.
The high speed rail from Xi’an to Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Guangzhou will be placed into use as well as the Zhengzhou – Wuhan high speed line connecting Guangzhou and Xi’an in anticipation of the upcoming National Day Holidays. There are no schedules for any high speed trains that will link Shenzhen to Xi’an. As of the moment it takes 36 hours to travel from Shenzhen to Xi’an on trains K134/131 and 30 hours on trains K446/447 with fare at 1,000 yuan which is double for a price for a sleeper train between the two cities.
In other news the old Buji Railway Station will be renamed to Shenzhen East Railway Station and scheduled to open in October. The railway station is part of the Buji transport hub that links with the Metro Longgang and Huangzhong lines with the Guangzhou – Shenzhen railway. The railway station covers around 127,000 square meters which offers city buses, taxis and long distance buses services. In the initial stags the Shenzhen East railway Station is designed to handle more than 50,000 passengers in a day.
