Expressway Operators to Open Toll Free Lanes at Gates With Heavy Traffic

Expressway Operators to Open Toll Free Lanes at Gates With Heavy TrafficThe Shenzhen transport commission has asked expressway operators to open toll free lanes at toll gates with heavy traffic. This tollgate includes the one in Dameisha, Meilin Bulong He’ao and Langtian in anticipation of the residents planning road trips during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Holidays.

The came after a new national policy implemented this summer that vehicles with no more than seven seats does not have to pay any tolls on expressways nationwide from September 30 to October 7. The toll free period will take effect on midnight of September 30 until midnight of October 8 and is applied on the time vehicles exits the expressways. Vehicles heavier than 15 tons or vehicles carrying hazardous chemicals are not allowed on expressways during the holidays.

Barriers will be placed on tollgates to help divide toll free vehicles from other vehicles, and vehicles are not allowed to park or wait near the tollgates as well. Authorities are expecting a 30 percent increase in vehicles or 700,000 vehicles a day on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway this coming holidays and having a toll free holiday can help drivers save on transportation and fuel costs during their vacations.
