Southeast Asia Countries to Meet in Celebration of the International Day of Peace
Former and incumbent officials from 10 Southeast Asia countries are scheduled to meet today for the China Southeast Asia Peace and Development Forum. The forum carries the theme Sustainable peace for a sustainable future is part of the celebration of the International Day of Peace.
Hosted by the Chinese People’s Association of Peace and Disarmament together with the United Nations in China and the Shenzhen Municipal Government. Speakers invited to share their ideals in the forum includes Asang Laoly the vice premier of Laos, Panfilo Lacson a Philippine senator and Chaiyasit Shinawatra adviser to the prime minister of Thailand.
The peace forum will be attended by members and representative of several peace organizations, research institutions and consulates in Guangzhou. Although the United Nations have many international days, the International Day of Peace is considered as the most precious one. According to one United Nations coordinator to build a lasting sustainable peace is to build a culture of peace, and by building a culture of peace requires everybody, the government and the U.N.
Foreign participants will also be invited to join a sub forum that focuses in Shenzhen’s economic cooperation across Southeast Asia. This will be a good chance for Shenzhen to open up and explore more cooperation with other Asian countries and make deals with them to further economic development.
