High Speed Train Opens in Time for National Day Holidays
Opened just in time for the National Day holidays travelers coming from Shenzhen can now take high speed trains going to the northwestern city of Xi’an which is a world famous attraction for tourists.
Starting September 29 the high speed train can take passengers to the capital of Shaanxi province in just nine hours and twenty minutes, which 21 hours faster than a regular train. Full fare for an economy class tickets from Shenzhen to Xi’an is around 891 yuan while a first class ticket is at 1,404 yuan. An economy seat from Shenzhen to Zhengzhou is around 730 yuan. The G822 train will leave Shenzhen daily at 9:15 am and will arrive Xi’an at 6:35 pm. The station will also be operating high speed trains to Zhengzhou at 11:37 am and will arrive by 6:43 pm.
A majority of residents said that the fare for the high speed train is reasonable even if a trip for the speed train is expensive than discounted airfares going to the same location. Regular airfare of a three hour flight to Xi’an is around 1,625 yuan, but fares are goes even lower of when discounts are given and a ticket for an overnight regular train to XI’an just cost around 438 yuan.
The Guangzhou Railway Group recently announced that they will be resuming sales of high speed train tickets 12 days in advance, reversing a change in ticket sakes earlier this month that drew criticism from customers.
