Basketball Star Jianlian to Play for Guangdong Hongyuan
Basketball star Yi Jianlian, recently signed a one year contract yesterday with Guangdong Hongyuan of the China Basketball Association. Fresh from his travel from the US Yi said that he will be wearing the Hongyuan jersey for the incoming season to help the team win its eight CBA championship.
Liu Hongjiang, Hongyuan’s general manager said that Yi will not be always ready mode compared to last season which was muddled by the NBA lockout and forced a lot of players to make decisions on choosing between the two leagues. Yi will be playing for the entire season in the CBA and might even play for the Guangdong Province in the 2013 National Games in Liaoning. YI played for Guangdong during the NBA lockout last season and averaged 16.6 points and 10.3 rebounds in three games Yi also sustain a injury to his right knee while playing a game against the Beijing Ducks.
By the time Yi’s knee healed, he then played for the Dallas Mavericks for 30 games averaging 2.6 points and 1.6 rebounds. Several European basketball teams are showing interest in Yi during the off season but Yi declined the offers and signed with Guangdong.
