Traffic Police to Expand Bicycle Restrictions

Traffic Police to Expand Bicycle RestrictionsTraffic police in Shenzhen expanded the areas and roads that were involved in the local restrictions of electric bicycles. The expansion will be done by implementing a ban before the end of the year.

The ban will include trunk roads such as Baohe, Beihuan, Yanlong, Yanhe, Binhe, Binhai, Sungang and Shennan roads. Areas in Nanshan, Futian, Luohu, Yantian, Bao’an and Longgang districts and areas in Longhua will also be off limits to electric bicycles as well. The new restriction is considered as an extension of the policy that restricted the use of electric bicycles that started last April, the new ban will now include tricycles that are powered by pedals of electricity.

Electric bicycles that have registered with the city’s electric bike industry association will not be included in the ban. Electric bicycles that are also used in emergency repairs of public road facilities, postal services and delivery services will be exempted from the ban as well.
