City to Start Business Bus Express Routes for Passenger Comfort
Transportation officials are planning to implement business buses around the city by 2013 which will offer express routes and greater comfort for passengers who are willing to pay higher fares. This business bus routes will have lessen stops than the normal city buses and its main targets are frequent business travelers or private car owners.
Sightseeing bus services and a fast bus for rush hour commuters are also being planned as part of the city’s effort in diversifying bus services and encouraging residents in using public transportation. The city bus service is said to transport more than 10 million passengers everyday on average by the end of the year. This makes the city the fourth domestic city with the daily average of more than 10 million passengers following Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
During a two day national bus transportation development forum had more than 250 people from various government departments, institutions and transportation enterprises joining. During the forum it was found out that the city bus service is transporting 9.69 million passengers a day.
