Around sixty three Chinese language teachers from overseas Chinese language schools arrived yesterday in Shenzhen to learn on the Chinese culture and attend forums and seminars on education in foreign countries. Most of the teachers are from schools in Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia and have taught Chinese to foreigners and overseas Chinese for more than 20 years.
During the twenty day program, these teachers will undergo courses on Chinese culture, calligraphy, painting, Chinese language teaching skills, dancing and Tai Chi. The program is organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council in its effort to promote Chinese culture in other countries and regions. All of these teachers are making great contributions in promoting the Chinese language and passing on the Chinese culture. Not only have they served the Chinese living overseas and region but also to foreigners that are interested in the Chinese culture.
There are around 20,000 Chinese language schools around the world from major schools with a thousand students to schools with no more than 20 students. The numbers of overseas schools are also rising since more Chinese people are living aboard. Furthermore there are 19 students currently studying at Yaohua Experimental School. These students are from southeast Asian countries and will be receiving basic education and international courses for three years then they can apply to enroll at universities in China.
