Shenzhen to Open First Virtual Hospital
The Shenzhen No. 1 People’s Hospital in Luohu will be establishing an online service center a first of its kind in Shenzhen. The virtual hospital is based on a cloud computing platform that will provide services ranging from registrations, consultations, reservations, remote treatments and video conferencing for staff meetings.
The hospital’s surgical building which opened recently will have an information center that have access to online services and operating rooms where in doctors can do surgery with online guidance. The virtual hospital can also be used in monitoring patient’s vital signs from blood pressure, blood sugar and fat levels. Patients can also monitor urine analysis and heart rates even if there are away from the hospital.
A terminal can be installed at a patient’s home so information can be transferred back to the hospital center for analysis. This will make it more convenient since patients will not travel back and forth to the hospital for minor checks.
The new building is a big step for the hospital and with a floor space of 103,600 square meters the surgical building can provide 1,000 beds which bring the hospitals total capacity to 2,100. Most of the hospital’s surgical departments have already been transferred to the new building thus allowing heavy departments such as intestines and stomach surgery, thoracic surgery osteoarthropathy and urinary surgery to add more beds in their department.
