Christmas Season Sees an Increase in Exports of Related Products
For the first three quarter of this year Christmas product worth around US$ 1.7 billion were exported through Shenzhen ports showing a 71.8 percent increase year on year. Customs said that the city ports have seen continually robust exports of Christmas related goods ranging from wreaths, ornaments, Santa Claus outfits and artificial trees during the peak season which usually starts in July and ends in September. City ports also saw a monthly high in exports of Christmas related good in August.
United States is one of the major destinations of the Christmas related goods reaching more than US$ 860 million all coming from Shenzhen in the first three quarters showing an increase of 63 percent compared to last year. Experts said the recovering economy of the United States stimulated the demand from foreign purchasers the main driving force of the growth in the demand and growth in Christmas goods exports. Furthermore local producers of Christmas related articles have also started to strengthen its efforts in innovating and diversifying their products from last year in hopes to gain more in the market shares.
Around 80 percent of the Christmas decorations and seasonal products are produced in China, some of these producers are in Shenzhen have already applied advanced technologies in traditional Christmas products ranging from making built in lights on Christmas trees to singing Santa Clauses.
To combat rising cost, producers of Christmas goods should upgrade and improve their ability in developing and researching more innovative products related to chritsmas.
