State Grid to Provide Free Connection to Local Solar Power Producers
In a bid to help the weakening solar industry, State Grid Corp. China’s largest state owned utility will be allowing some solar powered producers to connect to the national grid for free. Starting November 1st the state grid will be providing a free connection service to so called distributed photovoltaic solar power producers or to small medium producers that are found near customers.
The export focused solar panel industry has recently been hit by and excess in the manufacturing capacity accompanied with a low foreign demand. Furthermore these companies are facing anti dumping tariffs in the US and Europe is planning to impose import duties.
Several Chinese producers such as Trina Solar and Suntech Power Holding are focusing in their home market which is fast becoming the one of the largest in solar energy development. And to help solar power producers in the domestic market the Chinese government is now working on several policies that will help in subsidizing and to give easier access to the power grid.
