Passengers Taking Public Transportation have Reached 10 Million
Passengers taking public transportation in Shenzhen have reached more than 10 million passengers in a day. According to the Shenzhen Municipal Transport Commission the figure makes Shenzhen the 4th city in China and one of the 11 cities in the world than handles such a large amount of riders.
And by the end of September the city will have 14,660 buses operating on 859 routes and will be carrying 6.57 million passengers in a day. This increase in passengers only shows that public transportation is fast becoming the commuting choice of residents. In 2010 the Ministry of Transport chose Shenzhen to become the first city of public transport then in 2011 the ministry put into use 2,011 new energy buses.
As of now there are 2,350 new energy vehicles plying the city streets plus the city is adding 1,000 more energy buses and electric taxis by the end of this year. then by 2015 the city’s new energy bus will reached 7,000 accounting for 50 percent of the city total bus fleet thus also making Shenzhen the city with the most new energy buses in the world.
