City to Promote Reading by Training Reading Professionals
After undergoing training for three months 34 candidates have recently passed series of examinations to become the first batch of authorize professionals to promote reading activities in the city. Among the 34 candidates around 10 or 20 of them will selected and hired to be officials reading promoters and to organize reading activities at schools, communities’ residences and companies.
This was the first ever training program of its kind, the program was to help trainees learn basic knowledge and theories that will assist them in organizing reading activities. During the program inaugural training session around 120 candidates attended and a majority of them were reading enthusiasts from public libraries, schools and government organizations. And to help the trainees five experts in reading promotions were invited to teach. The courses were helpful and training includes theory and practice.
The city is planning to train at least 500 to 800 more reading promoters in the span of five years and will also assists them in organizing reading activities across the city. The city will also create a regulation on reading promoter management and a database of all authorized reading promoters. A system will also be created to monitor promoters activities and their achievements.
