Hotline Created to Assist Locals in Gathering Information
A new hotline was created for the convenience of residents if they needed information on government affairs and services including marriage registrations to elderly emergency care. The hotline “12349” was first used in Yantian District in March in which residents can call to find any information on a variety of government services. Residents can also gather the information in the hotline’s official website.
And by the end October the hotline has helped more than 31,000 people and the website had more than 150,000 visitors. The hotline gives out information for Chinese language and the staff can only handle simple English questions. The developers of the hotline are planning to create a English language help service in the future.
According to a spokesperson for the Municipal Civil Affairs, Yantian district lead in the local public hotline services since the district made a big effort in compiling the necessary data that was needed and the company that handles the hotline is based in Yantian as well.
To use the hotline callers dial 12349 then press 1 to access citywide information on government affairs, community services and marriage registrations. Pressing to will connect them to emergency services of the elderly, and number 3 connects them to the Yantian District service center.
