Tests Confirmed Wi-Fi Devices to Cause Disruption on Metro Rail Systems
After doing tests the Metro Rail confirmed that mobile Wi-Fi devices carried by passengers were the cause of the disruption in the Shekou and Huanzhong Lines in the past few weeks. the delays caused by brief stoppages along the Shekou line happened just before 9 am were most of the commuters were on their way to work.
The test showed that mobile Wi-Fi routers used by passengers using the 3G network use the same frequency as the Metro signal systems which caused the trains to automatically trigger its protection system that resulted to emergency braking. The Shekou and Huanzhong Lines use an automatic braking system that is controlled by a CBTC system that uses wireless frequencies.
The routers were found to be made in Shenzhen and are widely used among residents, the Metro Line said that the disruption is a new problem that is being faced along with the development of the information technology. The Metro Is now increasing its anti disruption capability on all its Metro systems though repeated tests and will take measures which includes applying for a special non-public frequency that will be using in its signal system.
