New Central Committee Unveils Leadership Lineup for the Next Five Years
The Communist Party of China elected its 18th CPC Central Committee which unveiling new leadership lineup for the next five years. The committee was elected by 2,307 delegates during the closing session of the 18th CPC National Congress. The new committee consists of 205 members and 171 alternates. The new Central Committee replaced old leaders with younger ones.
Zhou Yongkang, Hu Jintao, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, and He Guoqiang are member so fo the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 17th CPC Central Committee are not included in the Central Committee. While Li Ke Qiang and Xi Jinping are elected to the Party’s top decision making body. Wang Yang, Zhang Gaoli, Zhang Dejiang Wang Qishan, Li Yuanchao, Liu Yunshan, Liu Yandong, and Yu Zhengsheng who were previously members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 17th CPC Central Committee are elected in the New CPC Central Committee.
The new committee will then elect the Political Bureau, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and its general secretary during its first plenary session. The members of the Standing Committee of the 18th CPC Central Committee Political Bureau is then expected to meet Chinese and foreign journalists in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing today.
The 17th CPC Central Committee members were elected five years ago and had 204 members and 167 alternates. And yesterday delegates of the congress elected a 130 member Central Commission for its Discipline Inspection
Based on the Party Constitution which is the highest leading body of the CPC is the National Congress and the Central Committee which they elect an all of its constituent organizations and other members of the party are subordinate to the National congress and Central Committee.
