Hua Chunying Named as New Spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry
Hua Chunying will be making her debut today as the new spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry while presiding over the ministry’s regular press conference. Chunying was appointed last Friday and became the fifth spokeswoman and 27th spokesperson since the ministry set up the spokesperson system in 1983 to inform the public with updates and events in a timely manner.
Born in 1970 in Huai’an city in Jiangsu Province, Hua began her diplomatic career in 1992 when she was recruited by the ministry after she graduated from Nanjing University.
She worked for the Department of European affairs and was stationed in Europe and Asia.
