Long Term Transport Plan to Add More Metro Lines
In its long term transport plan the Shenzhen planning and land resources commission is planning to add four more Metro lines that will boost the rail network to 20 lines with a total length of 720 kilometers or the equivalent of the distance between Changsha and Shenzhen.
1among the 20 lines the 16 lines with a total length of 585 kilometers were part of the 2007 expansion plan. These lines include four express lines, six trunk lines and six regional lines with 357 stations. The new plan will add four more lines to connect developing parts of the city. The plans include a circular line also known as Line 17 was also temporarily named Qiannan Line that goes around the Qianhai development area. The circular line stretches for 34.4 kilometers around Xixiang, Qianhai and Shenzhen Bay areas. Line 18 or Pinghu Line runs 24.7 kilometers from Shenzhen Stadium to Pinghu.
The Pinshang Line runs 23.9 kilometers coming from Biling to Kengzi, Line 20 or the fuyong Line runs 14 kilometers coming from Shenzhen International Airport to west of Fuyong. The plans is considering crowded areas in Qianhai into another center for future developments in Shenzhen which currently are not covered by the Metro lines
