City Plans to Build a New Exhibition Center for Next Year’s China Hi-Tech Fair
City officials are planning to build a new convention and exhibition center located near the Shenzhen International Airport in Bao’an District. Although there is no timeline set yet on when the construction on the new center is released the city hopes that the new center will boost the city’s ability to host top international events.
The decision to build a new center came after the closing of the China Hi-Tech Fair in the existing convention and exhibition center which housed more than 2,976 exhibitors from 67 countries and region that had a total of 15,533 projects on display. However previous exhibitors were not able to participate due to the lack or the limitation of exhibition space. Even with the additional 5,000 square meters added to the second floor of center the fair was still small in comparison to the Canton Fair in Guangzhou. Building a new convention center will increase the capacity for the next China Hi-Tech Fair.
This year’s hi-tech fair was the most internationalized with 89 multinational companies participating and created nearly 10,000 square meters of exhibition coming from overseas enterprises. Also the fair saw more than 1,500 journalists from domestic and international media outlets that covered the event.
