Shenzhen Reading Month Ends with Book Donation Drive
To place a final touch to the 13th Shenzhen Reading Month more than a thousand books were donated to people of ethnic minorities in Shenzhen. Most of the books donated were part of the list of recommended works for this year’s reading month.
The list includes genres in literary classics, social and economic sciences, and humanities. Twenty six people from 1 ethnic minority groups were present during the donation ceremony. Organizers are planning to donate thousand books through the Splendid China Folk Culture Villages theme park that will be then passed on to minority groups for the next three years to promote and cultivate reading for minority staff members
The park built a leisure and library room of its staff a few years ago but lack books. Now there are more than a thousand books available for its staff members to read during breaks.
The donation programs has been a part of the Reading Month since its creation and in the span of thirteen years 15 million yuan worth of books have been donated to migrant workers and ethnic groups in the city and to students found in rural areas.
