Star Alliance Adds New Carrier to its Network
The fifth largest airline in China Shenzhen Airlines is the latest carrier to join the Star Alliance Group thus bringing its 400 daily flights and 70 destinations to the Alliance network and offers more traveling plans with other Star Alliance member carriers. Shenzhen Airlines offers expedited check-in services to passengers with other Star Alliance members.
The 27 member carriers offer around 21,900 flights to more than 1,329 destinations in 194 countries. Star Alliance CEO Mark Schwab says that adding Shenzhen Airlines and the Shenzhen International Airport greatly improves the company’s strategy in accessing current and future markets. Members will now benefit from the improved access around the Pearl River Delta and southern China, While Shenzhen Airlines gains more access to a global network and enhances benefits to its passengers.
Shenzhen Airlines frequent flyer members can collect and redeem miles on the entire Star Alliance network and frequent flyers in the Star Alliance network can now claim mileage credits for eligible flights in Shenzhen Airlines. The airline was launched 20 years ago with a fleet of 122 planes and flew to 200 domestic and international destinations. By the end of 2015 the airline will be expanding their airline fleet to 180 planes flying to more destinations.
