The Eighth Creative December Kicks Off with an International Design Festival
To kick off the eight Creative December the city held more than 140 creative events along with an international design festival. Designers from 20 countries shared professional experiences and ideas during the two day opening ceremony in one of the major events in this year’s creative December.
The creative December started in 2005 when cultural industries held month long cultural gala events in hopes to boost cultural activities in Shenzhen and to encourage the public to participate in these events as well. This year’s event featured more professional and global cultural events compared to the previous year and had more interactions with the public. This year the 140 creative events show a 59 percent increase and includes an international festival and activity such as the Holland Carnival which will be held throughout the month of December at the Holland Flower Town central square in Nanshan.
Thirty artists from ten countries will be performing in the creative concert a Music for Cultural Harmony at the Shenzhen Concert Hall this Friday and a touring exhibition on ancient Egyptian civilization called the Quest for Immortality will be launched on December 31st with a total of 265 artifacts from the Bolton Museum in Great Britain to be placed on display for the first time on Chinese mainland.
Interactive activities such as a creative dance competition, a fashion shopping festival, a cosplay carnival and the first ever lantern riddles cultural festival will also be held. The committee is also planning to have its first ever closing ceremony on January 15 and the top ten event organizers will be given awards.
