Aid Centers Adds More Shelters as Temperature Continues to Drop
The Shenzhen aid center opened additional shelters for the needy as temperatures continue to drop in the coming days. The Shenzhen aid center in Futian along with the centers in Bao’an and Longgang sent a group of local social workers to the streets to help the homeless with disabilities and to persuade vagrants to go to local shelters that are open 24 hours a day.
The social workers were able to bring a hundred homeless people to aid stations that are operated by the Shenzhen aid center and were group by age and gender and were given blankets, food and water and daily necessities. According to the director of the Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs aid and relief bureau the Futian aid center is open to the public when the temperatures drops to 12 degrees Celsius. The Shenzhen Meteorological observatory has also issued corresponding alerts for cold weather.
The homeless people who when to these shelters received warm clothes, meal box, blankets, a towel and toothbrush on their first day. More than 60 people have used the shelter in Bao’an aid center in the past week and most of them were given tickets to return to their hometowns.
