Phone Application Allows Passengers to Find Taxis
A mobile application is now being develop that will help find people find and reserve taxis is now gaining popularity in the city. The app Dididache when translated honk for a cab is developed by a Beijing based Xiaoju Technology Co.
People who installed the application on their phones can access information on available taxis within 5 kilometers of their location. When one is located the taxi can be reserve in a couple of minutes. So far the application does not offer an English language service so foreigners visiting may need to use the app with Chinese friend. Once reservation is done passengers will receive an instant message with information on the reserved taxi and the driver. Another message will be sent to the passenger when the taxi is about 200 meter away from them.
The eight taxi companies in Shenzhen have already expressed intentions in integrating their services with the application, while 37 is already using the technology for the internal allocation of taxis.
The application was first applied in Beijing in mid September and came to be used around 3,000 times per day with 70 percent of the requests successfully completed. The app also includes features such as driver evaluation and punishments for false reservations in which passengers who reserved but don’t wait for it will be barred from using the app.
