Charity Event Raised Funds to Provide Care Packages to Children in Western China
The 4th annual charity event Run for Love Shenzhen have raised more than 6.5 million yuan triple the amount that was raised during last year’s event thanks to over 10,000 participants. The number of participants was 1.5 times more than of last year with runners aged 10 to 70 participated in three categories namely the full 42 km run, the half marathon and the 10 km run.
The money came mostly from registration fees and donations from participated and organizations. The money raised will be donated to the subsidiary of One Foundation, the charity organization founded by Jet Li. Under its program, warm packages worth 365 yuan which contains clothing will be sent to children in Western China that is known to suffer extreme cold weather conditions during the winter. The program will help more that 18,000 children in ten provinces.
Li was the one who fired the starting pistol during the beginning of the full marathon. He said that the activity will make winter less cold for a lot of children and he hopes that the participants will be joining again in next year’s marathon as well.
