China Now World’s Top Wind and Hydro Power Provider
China’s installed wind power capacity have expanded in the past decade along with the country’s capacity for hydropower making them the world’s’ largest. During a power industry summit, the president for China Electricity Council Liu Zhenya said that the power capacity for wind power this year recorded a yearly growth of at least 60 percent.
In a cumulative total the growth showed more than 118 times than ten years ago, thus securing the top position as the world’s top energy provider in both wind power and hydropower. The country has also seen growth in its other clean energy sector during the same period. The country’s solar power capacity saw a surge by more than 50 percent growth each year. The country is still continuing to secure its future energy supply by optimizing the energy structure to tap more new energy sources.
To achieve this China should construct a strong and smart power grid that will back up the country’s development of clean energy along with building a mechanism that will help new energy sectors.
