Cold Weather to Greet Residents this New Year
Residents are advised to wrap themselves up and keep warm as they welcome in the New Year on Monday. The city will be experiencing a cold front from the North and temperatures is expected to reach 6 degrees Celsius. The cold air will be sustained and accompanied light wind and rain.
There will be sunny periods during the New Year holidays but temperatures will still range from 6 to 9 degrees Celsius. Northern areas in Guangdong might experience a temperature drop of below zero degrees over the weekend, drivers are told to remain cautious when driving in the wet and icy road conditions.
All throughout the year the Shenzhen Meteorological observatory kept a review of the general climate situation in the city. The observatory recorded eight days of heavy fog including three days in November. The heaviest fog happen in January with visibility reduced to 100 meters the lowest in 30 years. t here typhoons also hit the city this year with typhoon Vicente causing the most serious damages bringing high temperatures, strong winds and thunderstorms.
