Shenzhen Greets 2013 with a BangShenzhen marked 2013 with several festivities in different parts of the city. Happy New Year greetings were heard among friends and families while bright lanterns shine on local streets and residents started to celebrate the three day national holiday that starts today.

The expats communities that were joined by supermarkets, malls, bars, hotels and restaurants planned celebration and events last night in different locations. At Diwang Masion a match making event was held which was organized by jiayuan.com, the largest match making websites in Shenzhen that attracted 200 single men and women in celebrating the New Year together.

Also foreigners along with their family were looking forward in celebrating the New Year with parties and family gatherings. While others without families chose to celebrate the New Year with friends at bars around Shenzhen that are also throwing great parties to commemorate the incoming New Year. Meanwhile tourists attractions around the city created a series of activities in line with the New Year where in several parks have countdown activities, while others celebrate with a gala festivity that features local entertainment.

Local bars and pubs will continue to provide attractions and promotions during the three day holidays with live band and lucky draws. Several venues will be requiring cover charges while some bars have set a minimum consumption of 1,500 yuan.
