Health Cards to be Accepted at More Public Hospitals
The current number of public hospitals that accepts health cards have reached 20 and expected to grow to 30 as more hospitals are starting to accept health cards later this year. According to the Shenzhen Municipal Medical Information Center that there are already 2 million health cards issued in Shenzhen.
The cards are issued to expats that received them from employers and to Chinese residents which in turn can be used in public hospitals including Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, Shenzhen People’s Hospital, Futian District People’s Hospital, Shenhzen Maternity and Child Health care Hospital and the Nanshan District People’s Hospital.
The health cards can be used in paying for receipts printing, self registration and health record queries. Card users can also print their prescription, health check results and cost specification by using the cards at self service terminals. According to the city medical information director that health card serves as the patient’s identification that is stored in a chip embedded in the card that stores medical information to help save time.
There will be two types of cards to be issued one will be based on social insurance and the other is based on bank accounts which also comes in two types the ordinary and multi functional.
