Construction of Checkpoint Further Strengthen Cooperation Between Shenzhen and Hong Kong

Construction of Checkpoint Further Strengthen Cooperation Between Shenzhen and Hong KongThe construction of the Liantang Checkpoint in eastern Shenzhen marks the cooperation efforts between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The construction of the checkpoint will start this year along with the fourth phase of treatment work of the Shenzhen River.

The Liatang Checkpoint is known as the Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point in Hong Kong is found between Wenjindu Checkpoint that is also located in Louhu district and at Shatoujiao Checkpoint in Yantian District. The construction is scheduled to be finish by 2018 the same time as the river treatment project will be completed that will greatly improve the environment around the checkpoint. Hong Kong border officials will be placing more e-channels at boundary control points to shorten the time needed by eligible citizens in crossing the border.

The two cities signed four cooperative agreements which focused on establishing an innovation center for young entrepreneurs, to deepen cultural development between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, develop aquatic animal disease detection and promote financial investment. Major improvements were made last year that help cross border students, curb smuggling and cut down the number of illegal births in Hong Kong. All these were done through the efforts of both cities.

They will also be strengthening cooperation to further the development of Qianhai to serve as a service hub in the coastal areas in Nanshan and Bao’an districts.
