Five Cold Fronts to Hit Shenzhen During Upcoming Holiday Season
The Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said that there will be five separate cold fronts expected to hit Shenzhen during the Spring Festival travel season. The strongest of the cold front accompanied with light rain is expected to drop local temperatures to 6 degrees Celsius on February 3 to 5 which is the peak of the travel season.
Also a cold front will be causing freezing temperatures and icy roads in the mountainous areas of the northern Guangdong province. Transport authorities are now preparing to make sure that the roads will be safe for holiday drivers. Authorities are also telling drivers to leave Shenzhen at least a few days earlier than normal to avoid the rush during the Spring Festival.
The remaining four cold fronts will hit Shenzhen in January 29 to 31, then on February 11 and on February 18 to 19 and the last one by the end of February. As usual residents are reminded to keep themselves warm and guard against the flu virus. Residents are also warned on taking long hot showers to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Residents should take showers in well ventilated bathrooms and use flued water heaters.
The Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory will be providing regular updates on the weather through local media, and through their official website and microblog. As well as updates on display screens at local railway stations and bus terminals in Luohu, Bao’an, Yinhu, Longhua and Futian.
