Shenzhen to Improve City Environment at the Expense of Economic GrowthAccording to Mayor Xu Qin, during a press conference moments after the closing of the annual meeting of the city legislature said that Shenzhen will concentrate on improving the city environment at the expense of economic growth. To eventually reach its target environmental goals the city will continue promoting industrial upgrades and transformation that will create a more ecological and friendly city.

By eliminating the traditional high emission companies have affect the economy the GDP for the first quarter of last year has dropped 5.8 percent still the city didn’t give up. Mayor Qin said that this for the purpose of the development that will bring in better living environment to the residents. Also by introducing more projects that is low in energy consumption and is environment friendly companies that will make Shenzhen a better place to live.

Currently the air pollution in the city is caused by vehicle exhaust and dust particles from construction sites. And related apartments are now making plans that will control vehicle emissions and to improve facilities at construction sites. Also the city will work on increasing its residents incomes and will cooperate with Hong Kong to battle parallel traders that has already spurred complaints from residents of both cities.
