Passengers Lining Up at Railway Stations to Return Tickets
Long lines are seen at the ticket counters at Shenzhen railway stations as the Spring Festival approaches, but not for ticket purchases. This is due to a lot of people are lining up to have their tickets refunded.
Five counters have been opened by the railway station during the weekend to accommodate the people coming to have their tickets refunded which is a contract to those travelers trying to buy tickets. A spokesperson for the station said more than a thousand tickets have been return due to several reason such as failing to catch trains of changes in job schedules.
Phone and online bookings and extended time periods have also contributed to the refund rush. Since tickets bought online or thru phone up to 12 days in advance in a year these are returned by travelers who were able to purchase better tickets for their planned trips.
Railway officials are constantly reminding people that tickets can only be exchanged for a refund two hours before the tine of departure that is listed on the tickets minus the 5 percent commission that the station will be taking off the ticket’s original price. This tickets will be sold back to last minute travelers.
