Pingshan New Area Chosen to Pilot Smart City Program
The said project will include 90 regions across China on its first phase and hopes to bring new investment to industries to further develop Internet of Things, urban management trends and cloud computing. China Development Bank has pledged to provide these regions with low interest loans worth 80 billion yuan for the smart city construction for the next five years.
The Pingshan New Area is the only Shenzhen location that was chosen to pilot the project along with five other regions in the Guangdong Province including Panyu and Luogang districts, Zhuhai city, Shunde district, Lecong Township in Foshan, Pudong New Area in Shanghai and Chaoyang district in Beijing.
The project have already boosted the confidence for the development in Pingshan with talks of possible housing price hikes in Pingshan where the housing prices are lower than in Central Shenzhen. Pingshan was designated as the new growth pole of Shenzhen with a growth rate of 15.2 percent in 2012. The new area is improving their infrastructure which attracted investments and catches up with prosperous areas in Shenzhen.
As of the moment the government is completing the main construction of Danzi Road West and is starting to build Phase III of the Nanping Expressway and Pingyan Expressway this year. also the Pingshan New Area will be building more hospitals, hotels, cultural centers and shopping malls.
